What is a complete denture?

It is the prosthesis which is also known as dental prosthesis with palate which is applied when there are no teeth in the mouth and which is placed onlower and upper palates.

How many days will the building stage take and how many times will I have to come?

A complete denture is prepared in five sessions in the average as including impressions and various trials and for 5 sessions, 2 weeks are sufficient on the average.

Are they easy to use?

As dental prostheses with palate are placed and removed, their usage is more difficult than other prosthesis. They can be easily placed on the lower and upper jaw but the comfort of fixed prosthesis and the effectiveness of chewing are not expected.

Can I get used to using these prostheses?

When they are first placed, in some regions wounds and dents can take place and after dents are eliminated, after using them for a while, patients get used to them and they serve as patients’ own teeth.

How are they cleaned?

Cleaning of complete dentures is made by rinsing under water with soap and brush. Toothpaste is not used for cleaning. Besides special cleaning brushes for complete dentures, They can also be cleaned with normal toothbrushes. Besides, there are also cleaning tablets with certain brand names. By placing the prosthesis inside a glass of water with the tablet, the denture can be cleaned.

Can I eat food comfortable with complete dentures?

The adhesion of prosthesis that are prepared by taking measures from jaws specially for people, depends on the bone quantity on the lower and bottom jaws. If bone quantity is sufficient, adhesion of prosthesis and its stabilization will be good and with the prosthesis food can be easily digested. When complete prosthesis is first created, difficulty can be experiences until cheek and lip muscles get used to it and then, biting, cutting and digesting functions can be easily made.

Will the denture move while eating?

If the quantity of teeth on lower and upper jaw ist not sufficient, as the adhesion and stabilization of dental teeth will get reduced, prosthesis can move while eating. In this case, special adhesives could be used or in order to avoid the movement of the prosthesis, dental implants can be placed to the jaw bone.

Will I be satisfied aesthetically with complete dentures?

Complete dentures fill the dents in the cheeks and lips and swell them up . Teeth which are used in prosthesis can be designed as front group porcelain. In this situation satisfaction is high with regards to aesthetics.

What should I pay attention to while I use them?

Attention should be paid to the cleanliness of complete denture and cleaning should never be done with boiling water. Besides while placing and removing them, it should be remembered that they can be broken if they fall down while cleaning.

Is it easy to repair when dental dentures get broken or when teeth fall down?

Is it possible for patients with diabetics disease to use dental prosthesis?

The prosthesis which I use for years began to widen and move. What can be done?

For widening and movements that take place as a result of thinning or osteoporosis, by feeding the prosthesis, it can be made harmonious again. If there are too many changes in the lower and upper jaws, it can be required to make the denture again.

I am very content with the dentures which were made years ago. There is only coloring and darkening. Can the same prosthesis be made again?

If the coloring and darkening that occurs on complete dentures cannot be eliminated through professional cleaning, duplicate of the same denture can be made. In order for this to be realized, you will have to leave the prosthesis for a few days.

I am content from the adhesion of dental prosthesis which I use for years but the teeth don’t cut. Can teeth be sharpened?

Without changing the base of prosthesis, teeth can be changed and the new teeth would be sharper and they won’t be abraded.

My prosthesis on upper jaw pastes very well but the complete dentures I have at my lower jaw pastes weakly. Why?

Complete dentures on upper jaw occupies a wider space when compared with lower jaw and due to the existence of tongue on the lower jaw, prosthesis moves more. Besides, existing bone mass also influences adhesion. As dental losses occur earlier on lower jaw, bones get melted more and prosthesis made has less adhesion.

When I loss all my teeth, should I have dental prosthesis made?

It is very difficult for patients who loss all their teeth and who have not used complete dentures before, to get used to complete dentures. If there is sufficient bone mass on the lower and upper jaw, prostheses that are placed on implants that areput in the bones end up being more comfortable and easy to use. If there are no teeth, we first recommend implant supported dental dentures.
