Answer: Tooth tartar is formed on the tooth surfaces, by the calsium containing saliva’s sedimentation on the accumulated bacterial plaque. The activity of removing tooth tartar’s by the use of ultarasonic devices called Detartrage.

Question: How frequently detertrage should be done?
Answer: Tooth tartar accumulation depends upon saliva structure, tooth anatomy, personal mouth hygine and can be changed person to person.  With your routine annual check-up’s your doctor will tell you if you need detertrage; however, you can also decide by yourself if you need a detertrage.

Question: How will I decide if I need a detertrage or not?
Answer: Patients can also decide if they need a detertrage, If they  can not remove the  brownish (colored) stains between their teeth by using tooth brush and dental floss, if they are having gingiva bleeding, swelling and bad taste in their mouth.

Question: Is it harmful?
Answer: Professional detertrage will no have any harmfull affect.

Question: Is it a painful procedure?
Answer: Tooth tartar cleaning is done without using anesthesia and no pain is felt but moderate pain can be felt in areas where gingiva recession is present.
